Landslide type

To classify landslides, we adopted the landslide classification scheme proposed by Varnes (1978), and modified by Cruden and Varnes (1996) . Classification of landslide types in the database was based primarily on the description of the individual or multiple slope failures given in the reports, and subordinately on the type of the slope failures. The following table lists the landslide types considered in the database. The table lists: (i) the landslide type or types, (ii) the code for the landslide type(s), that can be used to select a specific landslide type from the selection menu, and (iii) a description of the landslide type(s).
